The Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Services Act (410 ILCS 406) was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law in 2016. Subsequently, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) adopted rules (77 Ill. Adm. Code Part 973) to implement the law.
The law requires Home Health, Home Nursing, Home Services and Hospice staff with direct access to patients/clients hired after June 2, 2019 to complete at least 6 hours of initial training within the first 60 days of employment using curriculum outlined in rule.
As of June 2, 2019, all Home Health, Home Nursing, Home Services and Hospice staff with direct access to patients/clients must receive 3 hours of advanced training annually.
Agencies must maintain training records for review by IDPH upon request.
IHHC and C&V Senior Care Specialists, Inc. developed both the 6-hour initial training and the 3-hour annual training to meet the State requirements.
